After qualifying for CBT 2, you are shortlisted for the next stages of the recruitment process based on your merit and the vacancies available.

RRB JE Document Verification

If you qualify for CBT 2, you will be called for document verification based on your merit and the number of vacancies available. During this stage, the Railway Recruitment Boards verify that all the information provided in your application is correct and supported by valid documents.

You should carry the original documents along with self-attested photocopies in the format prescribed by the RRB. If you fail to produce the required documents or if any information is found to be incorrect, your candidature may be cancelled as per the recruitment rules.

Some of the important documents generally required during document verification include:

  • Matriculation or Class 10 certificate (for proof of date of birth)

  • Diploma or Degree certificate and marksheets

  • Category certificate (if applicable)

  • EWS certificate (if applicable)

  • PwBD certificate (if applicable)

  • Aadhaar Card or another valid photo identity proof

  • No Objection Certificate (for employees working in Government departments, if applicable)

  • Passport-size photographs

  • Other documents specified in the official notification

You should also check the RRB JE Document Verification 2026 to understand the complete list of required documents and the verification process before reporting.

RRB JE Medical Examination

After document verification, you must undergo a medical examination conducted by the Railway Administration. This stage is compulsory and ensures that you are medically fit to perform the duties of the post allotted to you.

The medical examination is conducted according to the medical category prescribed for your post. Railway Medical Officers assess your overall health, eyesight, and other fitness requirements before declaring you medically fit.

The examination may include:

  • Vision and eyesight test

  • Colour vision test (where applicable)

  • Hearing assessment

  • General physical examination

  • Blood pressure and overall health check

  • Additional medical tests, if required by the Railway Medical Officer

If you do not meet the prescribed medical standards for your allotted post, you may not be considered for appointment.

Before appearing for this stage, you should understand the RRB JE Medical Standards 2026, including the required medical categories, vision standards, and fitness requirements.

How Is the Final Merit List Prepared?

The final merit list is prepared after the completion of all the selection stages. Although qualifying every stage is mandatory, your merit is primarily determined by your performance in CBT 2.

The Railway Recruitment Boards prepare the final panel after considering:

  • Marks obtained in CBT 2

  • Verification of original documents

  • Medical fitness for the allotted post

  • Reservation rules and vacancy availability

If two or more people secure the same marks, the Railway Recruitment Boards apply the tie-breaking rules mentioned in the official notification.

What Happens After the Selection Process?

Once the final merit list is released, the Railway Recruitment Boards recommend the selected names to the respective Railway Zones or Production Units for appointment.

After selection, you may have to:

  • Complete the joining formalities.

  • Submit any remaining documents, if required.

  • Receive your appointment letter.

  • Report to the allotted Railway Zone or Unit.

  • Undergo training, wherever applicable, before starting your duties.

The place of posting depends on the Railway Zone, department, and the post allotted to you.

If you want to understand the responsibilities of different JE posts before joining, you should also check the RRB JE Posts 2026. Understanding the job profile can help you know the type of work you will perform after appointment.
