RRB JE Exam Pattern 2025: The Railway Recruitment Board will publish the official notification for RRB JE 2025 between July and September 2025. The notification will announce various positions for Junior Engineer (JE) (Safety and Non-Safety), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA), Chemical Supervisor/Research, Metallurgical Supervisor/Research posts in different RRB zones.

RRB JE Exam Pattern 2025

The RRB Junior Engineer examination is administered by Railway Recruitment Boards which comprises CBT 1, CBT 2 and Document Verification phases. Each stage follows distinct exam pattern to assess the candidate's knowledge and suitability for the position. Candidates who wish to excel-in their RRB JE 2025 preparation must go through the comprehensive exam pattern to gain insights into the structure of question paper. 

The Stage 1 exam comprises 100 multiple-choice questions from Mathematics (30 ques), General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 ques), General Awareness (15 ques) and General Science (30 ques). Each question carries one mark with a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer. The exam ends in 90 minutes.

Stage 2 exam includes 150 objective-based questions from having 100 questions from specific technical disciplines and 50 questions from Physics & Chemistry, Computer and Environment. Each correct answer will award one mark and 1/3 mark deducted for every incorrect answer. The exam ends in 120 minutes.

RRB JE Exam Pattern 2025

The RRB JE Exam includes CBT 1, CBT 2, Certificate Verification, and Medical Examination stages. Candidates are advised to go through a comprehensive exam pattern to align their preparation strategy accordingly to perform well in the exam.

RRB JE CBT 1 Exam Pattern 2025

The Stage 1 exam for RRB JE will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science subjects to test the basic understanding of candidates in these subjects. Each subject will cover a specific weightage of marks as indicated below.

Moreover, each question will award 1 mark for a correct answer and there will be a negative marking of 0.33 marks for every incorrect answer. The time duration to attempt the question paper will be 90 minutes. In order to qualify for State 2, candidates need to obtain the minimum qualifying marks as specified: 40% for the general category, 30% for OBC/ST, and 25% for ST candidates.

RRB JE CBT 2 Exam Pattern 2025

The second stage exam for RRB JE will include 150 questions from a range of subjects including General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical Abilities to evaluate the candidate's knowledge in the relevant disciplines.

For Stage 2, each correct answer will award 1 mark and 1/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. The time duration for the Stage 2 exam will be 2 hours. In order to qualify for the Stage 2 exam, candidates need to secure minimum qualifying marks like 40% for general/open candidates, 30% for OBC/ST, and 25% for ST candidates.

RRB JE Document Verification

Candidates who will qualify for the Stage 1 & Stage 2 exam will have to appear for the document verification phase. It's a crucial stage in which candidates are required to produce the set of required documents for thorough scrutiny.

The authorities will verify all the original documents to ensure whether the candidate fulfills the requisite qualifications. Candidates failing to produce the necessary documents or certificates lead to rejection of their candidature. The list of essential documents for RRB JE document verification is given below:

• Birth Certificate/High School/ Matriculation Passing Certificate
• Degree or Diploma Certificate
• Identification Document (Aadhar Card, Electoral ID, Driving License, Passport, etc.)

RRB JE Medical Examination

After clearing all three stages, candidates will have to undergo a medical examination to ensure that they meet the medical standards set by the department. The medical examination aims to evaluate the physical and mental health of the aspirants to fulfill the requirements of the Junior Engineer post. (a) A-3:

• Visual Standards: Distance Vision of 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses not exceeding 2D).
• Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses.
• Candidates must also pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.

(b) B-1:

• Visual Standards: Distance Vision of 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not exceeding 4D).
• Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or performing close work.
• Candidates must also pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.

(c) B-2:

• Physically fit in all respects.
• Visual Standards: Distance Vision of 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power not exceeding 4D).
• Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or performing close work.
• Candidates must also pass a test for Field of Vision.

(d) C-1:

• Physically fit in all respects.
• Visual Standards: Distance Vision of 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.
• Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or performing close work.
