The written examination for the UPPSC Assistant Engineer post will consist of Prelims and main phases. The prelims exam is qualifying in nature while marks secured in the mains and interview will be utilized for preparing the merit list.
The prelims exam comprises questions from General Knowledge, General Hindi and Engineering Aptitude section while Mains exam will include Paper and Paper 2 carrying questions from General Hindi, General Studies and concerned discipline subjects. Those who clear the prelims exam will be called for mains stage. There will be a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every incorrect answer.

Aspirants who clear the written examination will be called for an interview to assess their professional knowledge and communication skills. The interview covers a weightage of 100 marks. This stage aims to identify the suitability of candidates for the role of Assistant Engineer.
The final merit list of candidates will be prepared by combining the overall marks obtained by them in the written exam and interview. Those who secure the highest marks in both phases will be placed higher on the merit list. The merit list will include the name, roll number, date of birth, and obtained marks and discipline of selected candidates.
Candidates whose names are included in the merit list will undergo document verification. In this phase, the authorities will check the original documents and certificates of selected candidates to verify their eligibility criteria and others as per the requirements. Candidates are required to produce educational certificates/mark sheets, caste certificate, domicile proof and identification proof at the time of verification.
