Bank Holidays in April 2025: The 2025-26 Financial Year commenced on 1st April (Tuesday) with banks throughout India experiencing a nationwide shutdown (excluding Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya) because of the end-of-year bank closure and the finalization and reconciliation of annual accounts and transactions. Importantly, banks in India recognize various yearly holidays, which include national holidays, state-specific festivals, as established by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
As per the official details, the Banks will remain closed for 16 days in the month of April which includes 2nd and 4th Saturday, weekends and celebrations like Mahavir Jayanti, Garia Puja and Good Friday. Banks in India observe a range of holidays throughout the year, including national holidays, state-specific festivals, and second and fourth Saturdays.
