The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) raises understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. When it was first established by the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly in late 1993, December 29 (the date of entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity) was designated as the International Day for Biological Diversity. In December 2000, the UN General Assembly adopted May 22 as the IDB to mark the adoption of the text of the Congress on 22nd May 1992 with the Nairobi Final Document of the Conference on the Adoption of the Text Adopted by the Convention on Biological Diversity.What is Biological Diversity

The IDB 2024 theme "Be part of the plan" is a call to action for all stakeholders to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by supporting the Kunming-Montreal Global Framework for Biodiversity, also known as Biodiversity. The Biodiversity Plan offers opportunities for collaboration and partnership between different parties. Governments, indigenous and local communities, non-governmental organizations, legislators, businesses, and individuals are encouraged to highlight ways in which they support the implementation of the Biodiversity Agenda. Everyone has a role to play and therefore can be part of the plan. This year, it will be held simultaneously with two meetings of the Subsidiary Bodies of the Convention on Biological Diversity, both taking place in Nairobi, namely: the twenty-sixth meeting of the Subsidiary Bodies on Science, Technology, and Technology. Advice (SBSTTA). , 13.-18. May) and the fourth meeting of the executive body (SBI, May 21-29).
