NIMCET Exam Pattern 2025 has been released by the NIT along with the exam date. NIMCET 2025 is scheduled to be held on June 8, 2025. The NIMCET is held every year by the NITs to select undergraduate students for the 2-year MCA program. The candidates who clear the cutoff marks will be able to get enrolled in the NITs and IIITs. NIMCET Exam Pattern 2025

Knowing the NIMCET paper pattern is crucial for aspirants. Understanding the exam pattern helps the candidates to focus more on the topics and subjects that carry more weight. 

As per the usual NIMCET Pattern, candidates need to answer 120 questions in 2 hours. There are four sections in the NIMCET. Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness, and General English are the subjects included in this examination. This paper is a Computer-Based Test(CBT) conducted online by the NITs. This examination is of 1000 marks. All of its questions are in the English language.

According to the notification, the entrance examination is divided into 3 sections. Section 1 includes the questions in Mathematics. It contains 50 questions that are required to be solved in 70 minutes. This portion carries the maximum weightage of 600 marks. Section 2 includes questions from Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning. It has 40 questions that are required to be done in 30 minutes. It carries 240 marks. 

Section 3 consists of questions from Computer Awareness and General English. There are 20 questions from Computer Awareness with 120 marks and 10 from General English with 40 marks.

NIMCET Exam Pattern for Paper 1 (Mathematics)

The Mathematics portion in the NIMCET 2025 is highly crucial and can decide your chances of clearing it. Therefore, you must give proper attention to the Mathematics subject. The Mathematics section contains 50 questions, to be answered in 70 minutes. With a total weightage of 600 marks, each question carries 12 marks. And,  there is a negative marking of 3 marks for each incorrect response.

NIMCET Exam Pattern for Paper 2 (Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning)

Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning is the next section after the Mathematics section. It carries 240 marks for 40 questions. Each question carries 6 marks. If you respond incorrectly to any question, you will lose 1.5 marks for each wrong question. You will be given 30 marks to solve this section.

NIMCET Exam Pattern for Paper 3

Paper 3 or section 3 in NIMCET contains questions from Computer Awareness and General English. The Computer Awareness section contains 20 questions with 6 marks for each right answer. In addition, the General English portion can give you 40 marks by giving correct answers to 10 questions.

NIMCET 2025 Marking Scheme

Candidates can go through the entire NIMCET marking scheme to get a detailed overview of it. A deduction of 25% marks can be made for each wrong answer. Therefore, it is better to answer the questions on which you are confident. Try not to attempt questions on which you have any confusion to avoid negative marking.
