Changes in CUET UG 2025

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced some significant changes for CUET UG 2025, including modifications to the subject list, examination format, and overall structure:

  • Subjects Reduced: The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. The removed subjects include:

    • 20 foreign languages (e.g., Sanskrit, Pali, and Arabic)

    • Six domain subjects such as Entrepreneurship, Fashion Studies, Legal Studies, Tourism, Teaching Aptitude, and Engineering Graphics.

  • Subject Flexibility: Students can now choose any subject for the exam, irrespective of what they studied in class 12. This change increases the flexibility for candidates, allowing them to appear for subjects outside their traditional academic stream.

  • Uniform Exam Duration: Each CUET UG exam will now have a fixed duration of 60 minutes, regardless of the subject.

  • No Optional Questions: The exam will no longer include optional questions. All questions in the CUET UG exam will be mandatory.

  • General Test : The General Test will remain, assessing a candidate’s reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and general knowledge. This is an essential component of the CUET UG.
