CUET 2025 Subject Mapping Criteria: The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2025, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the standardized entrance exam for undergraduate admissions to various Central, State, Deemed, and Private Universities across India. To successfully apply for CUET 2025, candidates must understand the Subject Mapping Criteria, which helps them select the correct subjects in the CUET application form based on their desired undergraduate course.

What is CUET 2025 Subject Mapping Criteria?

The CUET UG Subject Mapping Criteria refers to selecting the correct subjects in the entrance exam as per the admission requirements of the cuet participating universities. Candidates must choose subjects carefully to ensure eligibility for the undergraduate course they want to pursue.

  1. Ensures Admission Eligibility – Incorrect subject selection may lead to disqualification.

  2. Helps in University-Specific Selection – Different universities have different subject requirements.

  3. Avoids Disqualification – If candidates do not choose the required subjects, they may not qualify for their preferred courses.

How to Select Subjects for CUET 2025?

To choose the correct subjects in CUET 2025, follow these steps:

1. Choose Your Course : Decide on the undergraduate program (e.g., B.A. (Hons.), B.Sc., B.Tech, B.Com, BBA, etc.) you want to pursue.

2. Check University-Specific Requirements

  • Visit university websites or official brochures.

  • Verify the CUET subject requirements for the selected course.

  • Check the NTA website for the official CUET subject combinations.

3. Select Subjects Accordingly : CUET is divided into three sections:

  • Section I: Languages (13 available)

  • Section II: Domain Subjects (23 available)

  • Section III: General Test (GAT)

Candidates must select subjects from the right sections as per their desired course requirements.

  • Science students need to select subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology.

  • Humanities students must select subjects such as History, Political Science, and Geography.

  • Commerce students should choose Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics.

CUET UG 2025: Major Changes in Subject Selection

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced significant changes in CUET UG 2025:

1. Reduction in Subject Options

  • Domain Subjects: Reduced from 29 to 23.

  • Languages: Reduced from 33 to 13.

  • General Test (GAT): Available for all candidates.

2. Deleted Subjects in CUET 2025 :  The following subjects are no longer available in CUET 2025:

  • Foreign Languages (Removed) French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese.
  • Domain Subjects (Removed) Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics.

Important Note: If a university’s subject mapping criteria include a deleted subject, candidates must select the General Test (GAT) instead.

For example:  If a university required Entrepreneurship for BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies), candidates must now choose the General Test (GAT) instead.

CUET 2025 Subject Mapping Criteria FAQs

Q.1 : How many subjects can I choose for CUET UG 2025?

Ans. Candidates can choose up to six subjects: Four domain subjects One language One General Test (GAT) (if required by the university)

Q.2 : What happens if I select the wrong subjects?

Ans. You may become ineligible for your desired university/course. You may not be considered for counselling at your preferred university. Always verify subject combinations with the university before applying.

Q.3 :When will CUET UG 2025 registrations start?

Ans. CUET UG 2025 registration is expected for the fourth week of February 2025. The official notification will be released on nta.ac.in and exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG.
