CUET 2025 exam follows a structured marking distribution across its three sections: Language Test, Domain-Specific Subjects, and the General Test. Each section consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with a duration of 60 minutes per subject. 

For each correct answer, candidates are awarded +5 marks, while -1 mark is deducted for incorrect responses. Unattempted questions do not affect the score. The exam covers a wide range of subjects, including 13 languages, 23 domain-specific subjects based on NCERT Class XII syllabus, and a general test assessing aptitude, reasoning, and general knowledge. This balanced marking system ensures that candidates are evaluated on both their accuracy and ability to avoid guessing, creating a fair and comprehensive assessment for university admissions.

Major Changes in CUET UG 2025 Exam

Candidates can check the major changes made to CUET UG 2025 exam in below.
  • The exam will be conducted exclusively in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, streamlining the testing process and reducing logistical issues.
  • The total number of subjects offered has been reduced from 63 to 37.
  • Candidates can now choose a maximum of 5 subjects, down from the previous limit of 6. This aims to simplify the selection process.
  • All candidates must attempt 50 compulsory questions in each subject, with no option for skipping questions. This ensures uniform evaluation across all test-takers.
  • The duration of the exam has been standardized to 60 minutes for all subjects, promoting fairness in testing conditions.
  • Candidates are now allowed to select subjects that may not have been part of their Class 12 curriculum. This flexibility encourages interdisciplinary learning.
  • The UGC has discontinued 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects, impacting the overall subject offerings.
  • Admissions for the dropped subjects will rely on scores from the General Aptitude Test (GAT).

Exam Pattern For CUET Marks Distribution 2025

CUET 2025 exam is divided into 4 sections such as Section IA, Section IB, Section II, and Section III. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam must know CUET Exam Pattern to make a better preparation strategy.

Section I: Language-based

Section I of CUET UG 2025 exam includes 13 languages. UGC has removed foreign languages from CUET UG exam. Candidates now have to choose language from the 13 languages as given below.

Section III: General Test

Candidates can choose this section to appear based on their choice of course and the participating universities. The questions from this section include General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, and Quantitative Reasoning.

CUET Exam Structure 2025

CUET 2025 exam is conducted in three sections i.e., Section I, Section II, and Section III. Candidates can check the section-wise CUET Exam Structure 2025 in the table below.
