From Setbacks to UCEED 2025 AIR 36: Malhar’s Journey With PW

For Malhar, the journey to UCEED 2025 AIR 36 was not his first attempt. His previous UCEED performance had left him with a much lower score, while his NID attempt also did not result in the college he wanted. He decided to repeat and approach the preparation differently.

This time, Malhar joined PW and gradually worked on the areas where he had struggled earlier. Along the way, he also faced a deeply difficult personal loss shortly before the exam. Despite the setback, he stayed focused on his goal and eventually turned his preparation into a much stronger result.

How Malhar Started His Design Preparation

Malhar's interest in design came from a path that was different from most students around him. While many of his peers were preparing for engineering or medical entrance exams, he discovered design through another teacher and decided to explore it seriously. He had also started drawing only after Class 10, making his progress even more significant.

Explaining how he entered the field, Malhar said:

"To design maine ek doosre teacher ke through discover kiya tha. Mere poore family kisi ko nahi maloom design kya hota hai. I am the first one jo koi aisa different field pursue kar raha hai."

His family initially had little familiarity with design as a career, but they supported his decision. Malhar continued developing his drawing skills and eventually decided to repeat the entrance preparation after his first attempt did not produce the result he wanted.

The decision to try again was followed by a difficult beginning. The first few months of his repeat preparation were not easy, as he struggled with the feeling of going through the same process again. However, he eventually shifted his attention from the previous result to the opportunity ahead.

Malhar Turned His Previous Gaps Into a New Strategy

Malhar's first UCEED attempt helped him identify where he was losing marks. Aptitude had been one of his weaker areas, and his overall score in the previous attempt was around 71. Instead of carrying the same weaknesses into another attempt, he focused on improving them.

He explained the difference in his performance:

"Jab maine last time exam diya tha UCEED ka tab mera overall score 71 tha. Total score hum... is saal mera overall score almost 140 ke aas-paas hai. Matlab double ho gaya."

The improvement was especially visible in drawing as well. Malhar had expected a score between 30 and 55 in drawing after the exam, but he eventually scored 63. His better performance showed that the weaknesses identified from the previous attempt had become important areas of improvement during the second preparation cycle.

This change was not limited to academics. Malhar also had to deal with a major personal setback shortly before the exam, when his best friend passed away. Despite the emotional trauma, he appeared for the examination and continued with the goal he had been preparing for throughout the year.

His approach during difficult phases was straightforward:

"Abhi aapke paas ek hi option hai ki aage jaakar padhna hai. Bas uske sivay doosra kuch to kar nahi sakte the. Aur rahi baat doosron ki, to doosre to sochenge, usmein abhi hum kuch nahi kar sakte."

That clarity helped him avoid getting consumed by circumstances outside his control and return his attention to the examination.

How PW Helped Malhar Strengthen His UCEED Preparation

Malhar joined PW in September 2024 and initially followed his own study schedule. As the classes became regular towards the end of September, he started attending Reasoning and English classes more consistently. Later, he joined the Design Iconic Pro batch, continuing his preparation with PW.

“To maine PW join kiya tha September mein 2024 shayad 5 September ke aas-paas lekin tab main zyada continuous dekhta nahi tha tab main apna study karta tha jo maine khud schedule banaaya tha us hisaab se. Phir jaise classes regular hue September ke end ke aas-paas to maine regular class dekhna start kar diya Reasoning ka aur English ka ye sab.”

The structured approach was particularly useful for Aptitude, which Malhar identified as a weaker area. He found the topic-wise lessons, doubt resolution, and practice questions helpful in building better conceptual understanding.

“Aptitude mein meri aise help hui ki jo bhi topic tha us par ek individual poora video banta tha, aise nahi ki 10 minute mein ek topic khatam kar liya aur agle par badh gaye. Jo doubt aa raha tha, wo poora solve ho raha tha, matlab ek baar poochho, do baar poochho. Sab subjects mein, specially Reasoning, English aur GK in sab cheezon mein, chapter-wise jitne chahiye questions utne ho rahe the, usmein previous year bhi, textbook se bhi, aur concept clear hona zyada important tha.”

This focused preparation helped Malhar address a key weakness from his previous attempt. He specifically noted that his Aptitude performance improved significantly in the second attempt, contributing to his much stronger overall UCEED result.

Malhar's AIR 36 Result and the Lessons From His Journey

The change in Malhar's preparation was reflected clearly in his final performance. His overall score rose from around 71 in the previous attempt to approximately 140, while his drawing score reached 63. These improvements contributed to his AIR 36 in UCEED 2025.

For Malhar, the result also represented the outcome of making a conscious decision to learn from his shortcomings. His advice to future UCEED aspirants focuses on using available resources fully rather than deciding in advance that certain areas are unimportant.

"UCEED ka paper do part mein hota hai Part A, Part B. To Part A ke baare mein aap jitna padh sakte ho utna padho. Matlab kahin kam mat pad jao ki maine yeh kiya lekin yeh chhod diya."

For Part B, he also stressed the importance of observation and originality in drawing and design. According to his approach, practice can begin with references, but students should gradually develop their own ability to create.

"Aap pehle 10 copies banao, uske baad khud ka ek original banao."

His experience shows that improvement does not always come from starting from scratch. Sometimes, identifying the exact gaps in an earlier attempt, working on them consistently, and maintaining focus can make a substantial difference.

Malhar's UCEED 2025 AIR 36 journey is a story of improvement rather than an overnight success. He entered design from a background where the field was unfamiliar to his family, started drawing only after Class 10, faced disappointment in his first attempt, and then returned with a more focused preparation strategy. His experience with PW helped him work on areas such as aptitude, reasoning, English and drawing, while his personal setbacks tested his ability to remain focused. For UCEED aspirants, his journey offers a practical lesson: understand your weaknesses, work on them systematically, and keep your goal bigger than the distractions around you.
