NIFT Entrance Exam 2027

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various design courses including B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.M, etc offered by the 18 participating colleges of NIFT. NIFT entrance exam 2025 will be conducted on 9th February 2025.  The exam will be conducted in more than 75 cities in India. NIFT is further divided into GAT and CAT. GAT (General Ability Test) is mandatory for all courses, and will be conducted in a computer-based mode, while CAT (Creative Ability Test) will be offline-based. Only B.Des and M.Des candidates are required to take the CAT. Candidates who qualify the NIFT written exam will have to appear in a Situation Test/Personal Interview. 3. NIFT 2025 Situation Test topics for B.Des candidates

  1. The test will evaluate candidates based on material handling and innovative skills in a given scenario with a given set of materials.
  2. Using the given material, candidates have to make a model/design.
  3. Using any other material besides those provided inside the exam venue is prohibited.
  4. The model will be assessed based on innovative and creative use of given material, construction skill, composition of elements, finesse of the model and overall presentation, etc.
  5. The above parameters will be checked with a write-up explaining the concept behind the model/design constructed.
  6. The write-up should be in English Language only. No other language will be accepted.
  7. Candidates should not disclose their identity, trying to do so could lead to disqualification.
  8. The NIFT situation test will be evaluated on the SPOT. The model/design will not be kept for future reference.
  • Daily Sketching Practice
Dedicate at least 1-2 hours daily to sketching. Use various materials like pencils, markers, and colors. Practice different subjects: human figures, objects, landscapes, and fashion designs. To appear for the NIFT entrance exam 2025, candidates must have passed class 10+2 from a recognized institute. Candidates having a passing grade in the Senior Secondary Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects or 3 or 4 years diploma recognized by the State Board of Technical Education or AICTE are also eligible for NIFT.

How many times is the NIFT conducted in a year?

The National Test Agency (NTA) conducts NIFT once a year for admission to design courses at 18 participating NIFT campuses. It is divided into GAT and CAT. GAT (General Ability Test) is mandatory for all courses. Only B.Des and M.Des candidates are required to take CAT. Does 12th marks matter in NIFT?
