NID Studio Test 2026 Syllabus

NID Studio Test 2026 syllabus includes design theory, principles of composition, color theory, optical illusions, form and function, visual logic, 3D visualizations, and color theory. Candidates appearing for the NID studio test 2026 must have a keen interest in color themes, creating storyboards, imagination, and demonstrating lateral thinking.

The following are some major components included in the NID Studio Test 2026 syllabus:

  • Material Handling: Candidates use various materials provided to them to create models or design solutions. They must be efficient in the use of everyday materials such as clay, paper, cardboard, wires, and other craft supplies. Objects created with the help of these materials must visually express ideas and solve design problems effectively.
  • Wire-Folding: Students appearing for the NID 2026 Studio Test must be able to use wires in an efficient manner to create designs. They must know how to blend, twist, and shape them to create artistic structures and models. The test evaluates candidates’ dexterity, creativity, and ability to translate conceptual ideas into three-dimensional forms using wire as the primary material.
  • Clay-Moulding: Candidates are required to creatively shape and model clay to express ideas or solve given design problems. They must be able to make stable and visually appealing shapes with precision and neatness.
  • Model-Making: In this, candidates are required to build a 3D model using materials such as card paper, wire, clay, thermocol, and other craft supplies. Candidates are expected to create innovative and stable models that effectively address a given design problem or theme. Models must be neat, balanced, and have structural integrity.
  • Audio-Visuals: In this, candidates need to interpret and translate auditory and visual stimuli into creative responses. They will be shown video clips or played audio recordings and then asked to create sketches, stories, or designs based on their observations. Audio-visual tests evaluate candidates’ ability to imagine and connect sensory inputs to make creative outputs.
  • Doodling: It is an exercise designed to assess a candidate’s creativity and spontaneous thinking. Candidates are given incomplete lines, dots, or shapes, and are required to complete these into meaningful drawings, often accompanied by a suitable caption. Doodling helps examiners gauge how candidates generate concepts quickly and express them artistically under time constraints.
  • Write-Ups: Candidates are often required to provide concise write-ups, captions, or descriptions that convey their thought process, concept, and design intent clearly. Well-structured write-ups add depth to the practical work and are essential for scoring well in the studio test.
