UCEED Result 2025 Tie Breaking Method

The UCEED Result 2025 tie-breaking method is applied when two or more candidates have the same score. In such cases, the method ensures that the candidate with the better performance in specific sections or criteria is ranked higher. The UCEED tie-breaking method is discussed below.

• If candidates have the same total score, a higher rank is given to the candidate with higher marks in Part B.
• If the tie persists, a higher rank is given to the candidate with higher marks in Section 2 of Part A.

How are UCEED Marks Determined?

The UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) marks are calculated by adding the marks obtained by candidates in Part A and Part B of the exam. The total score is then used to prepare the final rank list.

The UCEED Part B Evaluation is done manually by at least two expert evaluators independently. If the difference in marks awarded by the two evaluators is less than or equal to 10, a simple average of the two evaluations is taken into consideration. If the difference is greater than 10, the answer sheet is evaluated by a third expert examiner until the difference is less than or equal to 10. 

The average of the closest two evaluations will be selected as the final marks. If the difference in marks between the moderator and either of the examiners are the same, then the higher average marks will be taken into consideration for calculating the score.

UCEED result-sharing institutes are those that accept UCEED scores for admission to their B.Des programs but also consider scores from other design entrance exams. Unlike participating institutes, result-sharing institutes conduct their own counseling process independently and are not part of the Joint Admission Process (JAP) conducted by IIT Bombay.

UCEED 2025 Minimum Qualifying Marks

To qualify for UCEED 2025, candidates need to score above the minimum cutoff marks set by the exam authorities. These cutoff marks are determined based on the category and section the candidate belongs to and are calculated using the average and standard deviation of marks from all candidates who appeared in Part A of UCEED 2025. The minimum qualifying score is essential for design admission.

UCEED 2025 Admission Criteria for IITs

To be eligible for B.Des admission through UCEED 2025 at IITs, candidates must meet specific criteria related to age limit, the number of attempts, and qualifying examination. 

• Age Limit: For candidates belonging to the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category, they must have been born on or after October 1, 2000. For those belonging to the SC, ST, or PwD category, the candidate must have been born on or after October 1, 1995.
• Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times, and that too in consecutive years. The UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same corresponding academic year.
• Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed all subjects in their Class XII (or equivalent) exam in 2024 or be appearing for the first time in 2025. Students from all streams (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible. Candidates who appeared for their qualifying examination for the first time in 2023 or earlier are not eligible. 

Note: Candidates must have qualified in the UCEED 2025 entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank. Besides these criteria, the participating institutes may have their own additional eligibility conditions. For instance, candidates from any stream are eligible to apply to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Hyderabad. For IIITDM Jabalpur, only students with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology at 10+2 are eligible; students from Arts or Humanities are not eligible for BDes admissions at IIITDM Jabalpur.
