NSO
A yearly competitive exam conducted for school students, the National Science Olympiad (NSO) is organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). The exam aims to cultivate scientific reasoning and logical ability among students through a rigorous test.
NSO is conducted for students studying in class 1 and above and a separate exam is held for every class based on their respective syllabus. Held in English, through the exam, NSO is conducted at two levels.
Level 1: The first level of the test is organized in the respective schools of the participants during school hours.
Level 2: The level 2 is conducted for students of class 3 to class 12.
NSO 2022:
NSO-National Science Olympiad 2022 will be held on October 18th, 3rd, and December 1st, 2022, by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). Participants in the National Science Olympiad are rated according to their 1st level of performance. After taking the first level of the test, pupils can assess themselves academically on four levels: inside the school, at the local level, at the state level, and, most crucially, at the world level. Registration for NSO 2022-2023:
The NSO enrollment process has been exemplified in detail below.
- Offline Mode of Operation
- Payment Type: Offline
- All academies enrolled with SOF get a prospectus for NSO 2022-2023, which contains enrollment details.
- To complete the NSO application form, students should reach their respective institutions.
- The schools will send the finished enrollment process and pay the application fees to SOF within the deadlines.
- The coordinating teacher allocated to each school will create the candidates’ roll numbers.
- They will also need to submit a copy of the students’ roll numbers with other details.
- It is mandated that each school register at least ten students for the NSO test 2022-2023.
Eligibility Crieteria for NSO:

Level 1 NSO Exam Eligibility
The NSO level 1 exam has no set eligibility requirements. All students in the country in classes 1 to 12 are eligible.
Level 2 NSO Exam Eligibility
The following pupils are qualified for the level 2 exam:
- The top 5% of students per class who take the first-level test
- Top 25 spot and class rank holders
- Each participating academy’s class toppers, with at least ten pupils from each class taking the exam and scoring 50% qualifying marks. Students with the best grades, however of the section, will qualify for the second level of enrollment received section-by-section.
