Candidates must secure a minimum score of 300-400 marks to qualify for the admission process.

Passing Marks to Qualify CUET 2025: Classification of Marks

CUET does not have any fixed passing marks to qualify CUET 2025. Based on the previous year’s cutoff candidates can classify the score as mentioned below

Passing Marks to Qualify CUET 2025: Maximum Marks

NTA has released CUET marking scheme. As per CUET Exam Pattern , candidates will be rewarded 5 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates can check the maximum marks below

Section-Wise Passing Marks to Qualify CUET 2025

CUET 2025 Exam has multiple sections, including Section I, Section II, and Section III. Below are the section-wise passing marks for CUET 2025:

Section I: Language

  • Sections IA and IB of CUET 2025 allow candidates to choose up to three languages. This section evaluates vocabulary, reading comprehension, and literary abilities.
  • Duration : 45 minutes to attempt at least 40 questions out of 50.
  • Passing Marks : The minimum passing marks are around 80-90 marks for each language. For sections IA and IB combined, candidates should aim for a total of 160-180 marks .
  • Relaxation : Reserved category students will receive a 5% relaxation in the cutoff marks.

Section II: Domain-Specific Subjects

  • Candidates can choose up to 6 domain subjects out of a total of 27 options. Each domain test lasts for 45 minutes.
  • Duration : Candidates need to attempt at least 40-50 questions in each domain.
  • Maximum Marks : The maximum score in this section is 300 marks .
  • Passing Marks : To qualify, candidates must score more than 120 marks in the domain-specific section.

Section III: General Aptitude Exam

  • The General Test assesses general knowledge, quantitative aptitude, and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Duration : Candidates are given 60 minutes to attempt 60 questions out of 75.
Passing Marks : Similar to Section II, candidates are required to score more than 120 marks in this section to qualify.

How Are CUET Qualifying Marks Determined?

CUET qualifying marks or CUET Cutoffs are released by the participating universities. After releasing the results, CUET colleges release the course-wise CUET cutoff to shortlist candidates based on score. The qualifying marks are determined based on below factors:
  • Course and Program : CUET Cutoff varies based on the course and program selected during the admission.
  • Difficulty Level of the Question Paper : CUET Cutoff also depends on the difficulty level of the question paper.
  • Reservation : Candidates belonging to SC, ST, or OBC categories will get different cutoffs. The cutoff for the reserved category is lesser than the general category.
