• Recent Passport-size Photograph: Some test centres ask for a recent colored photo of the candidate to verify their true identity. Features of the photo: 

  • The photo must be taken within 6 months.

  • The photo should have a white background and meet standard size (usually 4.5cm x 3.5cm).

• Proof of Payment: Candidates who have applied for an offline registration or via a bank deposit must keep the payment receipt or confirmation. For online payment, a confirmation email is usually sufficient.

• ID Proof:  Some regional test centers may ask for an additional ID (like a national ID card or Aadhaar card in India).  

• Email ID and Phone Number: Candidates must have a valid email ID and phone number to receive registration confirmation and updates.

Follow these steps to register for the IELTS exam via the British Council:

• Visit the official website: britishcouncil.lk

• Select your exam type by choosing IELTS from the exam options.

• Choose your test location and preferred test date.

• Click on "Create my Account" and fill in your personal details.

• Agree to the terms and conditions and proceed.

• Upload your passport details and add up to five receiving organisations (if applicable).
