HP SET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

• Students who have obtained at least 55% marks without rounding off in their Master's Degree in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications from universities or institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this test. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) of Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), Scheduled Tribe (ST) of H.P., Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer of H.P.), and Persons with Disability (PWD) of H.P. category must have secured at least 50% marks in their Master's Degree.
• Candidates currently pursuing their Master's degree or equivalent course, those who have appeared for their qualifying Master's Degree (final year) examination and are awaiting their results, or those with delayed qualifying examinations can apply for this test. However, they will be admitted provisionally, and their eligibility for the Assistant Professor post in the Universities/Colleges in the state will be considered only after they pass their Master's Degree examination with the required percentage of marks. They must complete their P.G. Degree examinations within two years from the date of the SET result with the necessary percentage of marks, failing which they will be considered disqualified.

• Candidates awaiting results or with delayed exams can apply provisionally but must pass within two years from the SET result date.
• Ph.D. holders pre-1991 get a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks.
• Candidates must appear in their Post-Graduation subject only.
• SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates need parental lineage certificates.
• Candidates with foreign degrees should verify equivalence from AIU, New Delhi.

• The authority will declare qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor those candidates who appear in both papers, secure at least 40% aggregate marks (for candidates belonging to the General Category), and at least 35% aggregate marks (for candidates belonging to reserved categories), constituting the top 6% of the appeared candidates, following the reservation policy of the State Government.
• If a tie occurs at the last qualifying cut-off marks in any given subject, the authority will consider all candidates who scored equal marks as qualified, potentially exceeding the six per cent limit of qualified candidates.

• Candidates applying for the SET examination must ensure they do not have a history of dismissal from government or semi-government services
• Report any conviction for moral turpitude or permanent disqualification from exams.
• Avoid influencing the examination or selection process directly or indirectly.
• Insolvent candidates should not apply.
• Government employees must inform their head of office/department about the SET application.
• In case of employer withholding permission, the application will be rejected.
• Submit online applications directly to the Commission for all candidates, regardless of employment status.
