GATE 2024

GATE 2024 (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) was hosted by IISc Bangalore to offer postgraduate admission or PSU jobs to engineering graduates. The exam covered 30 different subjects, including engineering, technology, science, architecture, and humanities. 

The GATE exam featured a mix of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Students could appear for one or two papers. The exam assesses the problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual skills of the students. What was New in GATE 2024?

GATE 2024 introduced a new paper for the students, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), by IISc Bangalore for the academic year 2024–25. This marked an important step in recognizing the rapid growth and significance of these new fields in the job market. With technology evolving at a rapid speed, data science and AI are transforming industries, education, and research. 

The addition of DA for students as a paper shows GATE’s commitment to staying updated with modern demands and skills. GATE 2024 Exam Pattern

The GATE 2024 exam pattern for students usually remains the same every year. The exam is conducted in online Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode with a duration of three hours and carries a total of 100 marks.

GATE 2024 Syllabus

The GATE 2024 syllabus covers two main parts - the General Aptitude (GA) section, common to all papers, and the subject-specific syllabus, which is based on the selected engineering or science subject. 

The GA section tests students’ quantitative and verbal ability, while the core syllabus includes theory, numerical problem-solving, and application-focused topics according to the stream of the candidate. The GATE 2024 result was declared on 16 March 2024 by IISc Bangalore for the students. Out of 8,26,239 total registered students, around 6,53,292 appeared for the GATE exam, and 1,29,268 qualified, giving a pass percentage of nearly 19.8%. The scorecards for students are available from 23 March 2024 and are valid for three years. 

The GATE 2024 result sheet included All India Rank (AIR), normalized scores, and qualifying marks in 30 papers. These GATE exam results of students are important for postgraduate admissions to IITs, IISc, NITs, and other institutes, while also providing eligibility for recruitment in many leading Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in India.
