GATE official Syllabus 2027 defines the subjects, topics, and sub-topics from which questions are asked in the examination. The syllabus helps candidates understand the scope of preparation for their chosen paper and identify important areas that require more focus.
GATE syllabus generally consists of the following three sections:
General Aptitude (GA)
Engineering Mathematics
Core Subject Topics of the Selected Paper
While General Aptitude is common for all candidates, the Engineering Mathematics and Core Subject sections vary according to the selected GATE paper. Candidates should prepare according to the syllabus prescribed for their respective branch.
The most significant structural update in the GATE 2027 Syllabus Revised rollout is the official launch of Robotics and Automation (RA) as a standalone 31st paper on the GATE 2027 Official Website. This interdisciplinary discipline bridges the gap between mechanical engineering networks, electronics design, and computing logic.
Kinematics and Dynamics of Robotic Systems
Actuators, Feedback Sensors, and Signal Conditioning Circuits
Embedded Robot Programming and Real-Time Control Systems
Machine Vision, Image Processing, and Artificial Intelligence Applications
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the organising institute for GATE 2027, has introduced a new Paper. GATE 2027 Introduces Robotics & Automation (RA) paper for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027.
According to the official announcement, this is one of the key changes introduced in this year's examination. IIT Madras has also revised the syllabus for the GATE test papers after five years to align with evolving academic and industry requirements.
Apart from introducing the Robotics & Automation paper, IIT Madras has also made another important change.
The Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) paper will no longer be offered as an independent paper. Instead, it has been converted into a sectional paper under Engineering Sciences (XE) from GATE 2027.
The GATE 2027 notification states that changes have been made to the XE (Engineering Sciences), XH (Humanities & Social Sciences), and XL (Life Sciences) sectional paper codes. Candidates should refer to the official information brochure for the updated paper codes and section combinations before submitting their application.
