GATE Aerospace Engineering has no age cap, no minimum percentage requirement, and no cap on the number of times you can attempt it — both Indian and foreign candidates can apply. You simply need to be in your third year (or beyond) of a recognised degree, or have already graduated. Supporting documents must be uploaded at the time of application, and the test is held only at centres within India.

GATE Mathematics Syllabus 2027

GATE Aerospace Engineering (AE) is one among the 30 papers offered under the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Before filling out the application form, aspirants should first confirm that they meet the eligibility conditions laid down for this paper.

The GATE AE Eligibility Criteria 2027 lay out everything from qualifying degrees and academic requirements to nationality rules, age limits, and other conditions tied to the application process. Getting familiar with these details in advance makes it easier to figure out your eligibility and get through registration without hiccups.

What is GATE AE?

AE is the paper code for Aerospace Engineering, one of the 30 subjects tested under GATE 2027 to evaluate how well a candidate grasps fundamental Aerospace Engineering concepts. It's the paper of choice for most students and graduates coming from an Aerospace Engineering background or a closely related field, and clearing it opens doors to M.Tech admissions, PSU jobs, and further academic opportunities.

GATE Aerospace Engineering Eligibility - Documents Required

When applying for GATE Aerospace Engineering 2027, certain documents need to be uploaded to establish eligibility. A few key points to note:

  • If you've already cleared your qualifying exam in 2027 or before, you'll need to upload your degree certificate or an equivalent document from a recognised authority.

  • If you expect to complete your eligibility requirements sometime in 2027 or later, submit the Provisional Certificate Letter, or the Section A marks card in case of AMIE.

  • Candidates with a disability need to upload a PwD certificate from a recognised authority — note that the fee concession only kicks in for disabilities of 40% or higher.

  • If you have a pending backlog, attach the final year mark sheet sourced directly from your institution — not one downloaded from a third-party website.

  • SC/ST candidates applying for a fee concession must provide valid proof through officially issued certificates.

Keep these points in mind before submitting your GATE AE application, to make sure everything goes through smoothly:

  • No Cap on Attempts: As long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria, you can appear for GATE AE as many times as you like.

  • Degree Requirement: You need to be in the third year or beyond of an eligible programme, or have already finished it.

  • No Marks Threshold: There's no minimum percentage or CGPA you need to clear to apply.

  • Documentation Matters: Your academic details and eligibility claims need to be backed by valid, verifiable documents.

  • GATE Score Isn't a Guarantee: Scoring well in GATE doesn't automatically secure you admission or a job, since individual institutes and PSUs often layer on their own selection criteria.
