GATE English Syllabus 2027 (XH-C2)

The English section covers literature in English, criticism, and research methods relevant to literary studies.

  • Multi-genre literatures in English: poetry, novel and other forms of fiction, drama, short stories, and creative non-fiction

  • Indian literature in English and in English translation

  • Literary criticism and theory, including major critical and cultural traditions

  • History of English literature and English literary studies

  • Research approaches and methodologies, including interpretive techniques responsive to literary forms, devices, concepts, and genres

The Philosophy section spans Classical Indian, Classical, and Modern Western philosophical traditions.

  • Classical Indian Philosophy: orthodox and heterodox systems, Bhagavadgita, Upanisads and Dharmasastras, Saivasiddhanta, Kashmira Saivism, Vaishnavism
