The GATE Production and Industrial Engineering (PI) Exam Pattern 2027 includes a 3-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) with questions from General Aptitude and the selected Production and Industrial Engineering paper. The paper carries a total of 100 marks, including 15 marks for General Aptitude and 85 marks for the subject section, which includes Engineering Mathematics (13 marks).

The GATE PI examination includes three types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

• Each question carries either 1 mark or 2 marks.

• Candidates have to select one correct option from the given choices.

Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)

• One or more options may be correct.

• Candidates must select all correct options to receive full marks.

• There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

• Partial marks are not awarded.

Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions

• Candidates need to enter the answer using the virtual numeric keypad.

• No answer choices are provided.

• Answers may be required in numerical form, including integers or decimal values.

• There is no negative marking or partial marking for NAT questions.
