IIT Full Form: 'IIT' is an abbreviation for the Indian Institute of Technology. This is believed to be the most reputable educational body that provides higher education in several engineering areas. In India, there are sixteen IITs. The Institute of Technology Act, 1961, authorises and connects each of these institutions.

Mechanical engineering, computer science, architecture and planning, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and electronics engineering are among the undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered at the Institute of Technology.

What is the full form of IIT?

The Indian Parliament established and designated the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) as national institutes. The IITs were established to educate scientists and engineers to help India's economic and social growth after independence in 1947. The IITs are a group of independent, well-known engineering and technology-focused universities. The majority of IITs were designated as Institutes of National Importance by the Indian Parliament through special legislation in the early 1950s and 1960s. As a result of their success, the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) were established in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

IIT History

India's first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, established IIT Kharagpur, the nation's first IIT, in 1951. The objective was to become an engineer and do engineering-related research. Formal technical education initially appeared in India in the middle of the nineteenth century. The Governor General's policy statement of 1913 emphasising the importance of technical education, the establishment of the Indian Universities Commission in 1902, the Governor General's policy statement in Bengal in 1905, the release of the Indian Education Policy Resolution in 1904, and the establishment of industrial schools all contributed to the establishment of the Indian Universities Commission.
