JEE Main Fees Structure 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official JEE Main Fees Structure 2026. The amount of fee to be paid for JEE Main depends on the category, gender of the student, as well as the type of exam centre he/she opts for (within India or outside India). Candidates are required to pay the JEE Main 2026 Registration Fee online through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI etc.
While filling out the form for the exam, candidates are advised to verify the fee amount and then proceed to make the payment. While paying the JEE Main application fee, the candidate must also bear the additional GST and processing charges. To maintain transparency, NTA has also made the whole process of fee payment online.
For the exam to be conducted in 2026, NTA has clearly stated that the JEE Main Fees Structure will not be refunded except in rare cases such as duplicate or failed transactions. So, students need to be extra cautious while paying the fee.
The JEE Main Fees Structure 2026 is based on three factors- paper (Paper 1, Paper 2A, Paper 2B), category (General, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PwD) and test centre (inside India and outside India). National Testing Agency charges nominal fee to help students of all categories.
For students giving the exam in India, the JEE Main 2026 Registration Fee is between ₹500 to ₹2000 for different combinations of paper and category. But, for students giving the exam outside India, the registration fee varies between ₹2500 to ₹10000 due to additional administrative expenses.
The JEE Main Fees Structure 2026 is different for students who are giving both papers (Paper 1 + Paper 2A/2B). Fee relaxation for female candidates and reserved category students is as per government rules.
The refund rules for the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) mainly specify the following:
The candidate will have to pay the exam fee again online if he or she could not pay for one attempt or has a failed transaction.
The amount paid in the form of a failed or duplicate transaction will be refunded after the final result of JEE (Main) is declared.
Candidates can delete any selected paper or session during the correction window period, however, the fees paid for the paper or session that is removed will not be refunded.
Candidates will not be provided with a refund of the exam fee due to withdrawal or cancellation after making the payment, except in the case of duplicate payments for failed transactions.
The NTA refund policy for JEE exam fees is strict, as only failed or duplicate payments are eligible for refunds. Fees paid for the paper or session removed will not be refunded.
Seat allotment and admission counseling refunds for JoSAA are provided if the candidate withdraws within the given deadline, or does not report to the institute, or does not get a seat allotted even after making the payment.
Refunds are not provided if the candidate misses deadlines or cancels admission after confirmation.
The JEE Main Category-wise Fees structure maintained by the NTA remains uncomplicated and includes special fee reductions for women candidates and students from reserved categories. There are also some higher fee rates for candidates who are opting for centres located in foreign countries under the international arrangements.
