  • Seat allotment letter issued by JoSAA

  • Three passport-size photographs (same as uploaded during JEE Main registration)

  • A government-issued photo ID (such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc.)

  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment

  • Proof of date of birth (birth certificate or Class 10 certificate)

  • JEE Main 2025 Admit Card

  • Class 12th mark sheet

Students must carry both originals and photocopies of all these documents for verification.

JEE Main Seat Matrix 2025

The JEE Main Seat Matrix 2025 is expected to include around 42,177 seats offered by various participating institutes under JoSAA counselling. These seats are likely to be spread across NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, just like in the previous year.

Out of the total expected seats, around 24,229 seats in NITs, 8,546 in IIITs, and around 9,402 in GFTIs are anticipated to be offered to eligible students. These numbers give students a general idea of how many government seats might be available for admission through JEE Main 2025. The official seat matrix will be released by JoSAA on its website during the counseling schedule.

What is the JEE Main Seat Allocation Process 2025?

The JEE Main Seat Allocation Process 2025 is expected to take place in multiple rounds, just like previous years. This process helps students know which institute and course they are getting admission into, based on their JEE Main rank and the choices they filled during counseling.

To participate, students first need to register for JoSAA counseling and fill in their preferred courses and colleges. Based on the rank, category, and choices filled, the authorities will allot seats in each round. After seat allotment, students have to confirm their admission by paying the seat acceptance fee and reporting for document verification at the allotted institute.

JEE Main Seat Allotment 2025: Institute Details for Counseling

For JEE Main 2025 seat allotment and counseling, different institutes have different rules based on the student's eligibility and home state, as explained here:

  • Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs): These institutes are open for all students, meaning students from any state can apply and be considered for allotment.

  • National Institutes of Technology (NITs): NITs follow a state-based system. Students can only apply to the NIT in their home state if they have the same state code of eligibility. Students from other states will be considered under the "other state" category.

  • Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs):

    • For Assam University, both home state and all-India students can apply.

    • For Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi, and IIEST Shibpur, students from both the home state and other states are eligible.

    • For other GFTIs, only all-India students can apply.

Understanding these rules is important during the seat allotment process to make sure that students meet the eligibility requirements for the institute they are interested in.

What After JEE Main 2025 Seat Allocation?

After the JEE Main 2025 seat allocation results are announced, students will have different options to decide how they want to proceed with their admission process. These options include:

  • Float: If a student is good with the allotted seat but still wants to upgrade to a better seat in a later round, they can choose the float option. This way, they can keep their current seat but remain open to an upgrade.

  • Freeze: If a student is satisfied with the seat they have been allotted and doesn't want to participate in further rounds of counseling, they can choose the freeze option. This means they accept the seat and confirm their admission to the current choice.

  • Slide: If a student is okay with the allotted seat but would prefer to upgrade to a different program (while staying in the same institute), they can choose the slide option.

  • Withdraw: In case a student decides not to continue with their allotted seat after accepting it, they can withdraw their seat by reporting to the allocated institute before the final round of seat allotment begins.

These options give students the flexibility to make decisions based on their preferences and the seats available in further rounds of counseling.
