Preparing for JIPMAT can be challenging when aspirants discover the exam late or struggle to build consistency. Parth came to know about IPM only after Class 12 and faced a setback in his first attempt. When he began preparing again, his mock scores were around 200, making the second attempt equally uncertain.
Instead of letting the low scores define his preparation, Parth focused on showing up every day and gradually rebuilt his routine. He also used Physics Wallah’s free YouTube resources, including one-shots and marathon sessions, for revision and concept coverage. This combination of consistency, practice and focused resources helped him improve his preparation and eventually crack JIPMAT.
After Class 12, Parth knew about IPM but had not yet decided to pursue it seriously. Filling the IIM Indore form changed that, eventually leading him to take a partial drop after his first attempt.
"Mujhe IPM ka meri 12th class ke baad pata laga tha, I had some information about it but I had not seriously considered it ki main yahi karunga. Maine IPM Indore ka form bhara. Uske baad maine socha ki mujhe IPM karna bhi hai. Maine apni prep chalu ki thi in last year April. I’m a partial dropper now."
Parth entered IPM preparation later than many aspirants and initially explored the exam without a firm plan. After his first attempt did not lead to the desired result, he realised that IPM was genuinely the path he wanted to pursue. He therefore took a partial drop and continued preparing alongside college.
That decision gave him another opportunity, but the next challenge was turning that intention into consistent preparation.
Parth's second attempt started with procrastination and a preparation gap. When he finally began taking mocks seriously, his scores were far from where he wanted them to be.
"Shuruaat mein toh main bahut bura fail ho gaya tha... main mocks mein mere around 200 tak hi score tak rehta tha... Sir kaafi demotivating tha but then I was very well connected in the IPM community... Mujhe ek hi jo cheez mili sabse reply mein woh ye tha ki bas just show up everyday."
Scoring around 200 in mocks was discouraging, especially with competitive JIPMAT and Rohtak cut-offs in mind. The problem was not simply the score; Parth knew that his earlier inconsistency had contributed to the situation.
Instead of abandoning his preparation, he reached out to seniors and other aspirants. Their advice to “just show up every day” gave him a practical way to deal with the setback: focus on returning to the routine rather than judging the entire preparation based on one mock.
As his consistency improved, he also found resources that could support his revision and exam preparation.
Parth was not enrolled in a formal PW batch, but he had been following PW’s YouTube resources for a long time. During revision, one-shots and marathon sessions became particularly useful.
"I had been consistently following PW’s content since a very long time... Revisions ke liye maine PW ke one shots aur marathons dekhe the aur content was literally amazing, bahut hi badhiya tha matlab itna thoroughly sab kuch covered tha that I personally saw two and three questions in the paper itself."
Parth used PW's free YouTube resources as part of his self-driven preparation. The one-shots and marathon sessions helped him revise concepts and cover areas that he had not been able to study thoroughly during his earlier preparation.
What stood out for him was the exam-oriented approach. He felt that the concepts covered in these sessions were relevant to the actual questions he encountered in the exam. For Parth, the resources worked alongside his own practice rather than replacing it.
After missing his target in the previous attempt, Parth entered his second attempt with a more consistent approach. His preparation eventually paid off, although the exam season brought another challenge when his JIPMAT date clashed with his Rohtak interview.
"He has scored tremendously well in the JIPMAT exam and basically JIPMAT crack kar liya... Maine Rohtak mein mail daali and fortunately un log maan gaye... Unhone date seventh ki jagah eighth kar di."
Parth eventually cracked JIPMAT after his second attempt, showing how different his preparation had become from the previous year. His exam season also required him to manage a clash between the JIPMAT exam and his Rohtak PI.
Rather than allowing the conflict to affect either opportunity, he contacted the Rohtak team and requested a change in the interview date. The request was accepted, allowing him to appear for both. It was another example of the proactive approach he had developed during his preparation.
For aspirants, Parth's journey is a reminder that a late start or poor mock scores do not have to define the final outcome. His experience shows the value of starting as early as possible, building consistency, practising regularly and using resources strategically. Most importantly, his second attempt demonstrates that progress can come from simply continuing to show up, even when the early results are discouraging.
