The West Bengal Judiciary exam pattern 2025 helps candidates understand the marking system, subject weightage, and other key details. The Preliminary exam is objective in nature, with multiple-choice questions covering Law and General Knowledge. The Main exam is descriptive, focusing on core law subjects. The selection process has three stages – Prelims, Mains, and an Interview – each with its own format and evaluation method.
The WBJS preliminary examination will consist of one objective-type paper including 200 multiple-choice questions. The exam will last for 1/2 hours and is worth 200 marks.

Since the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Indian Penal Code, and the Indian Evidence Act have been replaced by the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) from 1 July 2024, the West Bengal Judiciary Syllabus 2025 for both the Preliminary and Final Examinations has been updated.
These three new laws will now be part of the syllabus instead of the earlier ones. The related recruitment rules will be amended and notified later. This revised syllabus will apply to the West Bengal Judicial Service Examination, with the approval of the Government’s Judicial Department, West Bengal.
