CLAT Reservation 2025

The CLAT 2025 counselling process will be conducted online at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The exam authority will publish a merit list for all participating National Law Universities (NLUs) according to the CLAT Reservation 2025 will be out by their respective state or UT governments. Registration for CLAT Counselling 2025 will commence once the CLAT results are announced. Candidates can find details about the CLAT Reservation 2025 policy accepted by participating colleges for NLU admissions below, as this policy plays a crucial role in the CLAT seat allotment process.

The seats for CLAT 2025 at all NLUs are categorized based on each university's CLAT Reservation 2025. Due to the prevalence of domicile reservations among many colleges, the number of seats available through CLAT counselling for candidates from other states will be limited. Who Qualifies as a Karnataka Student?

Candidates are considered "Karnataka students" if they have studied for a minimum of 10 years in a recognized educational institution within Karnataka. Those who have not completed ten years of study in the state may still apply under the Karnataka Students category if they meet any of the following CLAT Reservation 2025:
  1. Children of Defence Personnel/Ex-Servicemen: Candidates whose parents have declared their hometown as Karnataka upon joining the service and who have served or are currently serving outside the state, corresponding to the candidate’s years of study outside Karnataka.
  2. Children of Karnataka State Government Employees: Candidates whose parents are state government employees who have served or are currently serving outside Karnataka, in line with the candidate’s years of study outside the state.
  3. Children of Karnataka Cadre Employees: Candidates whose parents are serving or retired employees of the Karnataka cadre in the All India Services (IAS/IFS/IPS) who have served or are currently serving outside Karnataka, corresponding to the candidate’s years of study outside the state.
  4. Children of Central Armed Police Force Employees: Candidates whose parents are working or retired employees of the Central Armed Police Force who declared Karnataka as their hometown when joining the service and who have served or are currently serving outside the state, about the candidate’s years of study outside Karnataka.

Only OBC candidates whose parental income is below the specified limit for the creamy layer are eligible to claim reservations under this category. Such candidates must provide a certificate from the competent authority confirming that their parents do not fall under the creamy layer. Fifty percent of the seats are reserved horizontally for candidates with a domicile certificate from the State of Madhya Pradesh in the respective category. To qualify for admission under the NRI/NRI Sponsored Category, the candidate must be:
  • An NRI/OCI Card Holder/PIO Card Holder, or
  • Sponsored by a first-degree or second-degree blood relative who holds an NRI/OCI Card or PIO Card.
Candidates must select the NRI/NRI sponsored option on the CLAT application form to be eligible. Additionally, reservations are made for candidates from the State of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as for those from the Economically Weaker Section. Thirty seats are reserved horizontally for women candidates (excluding the NRI/NRI sponsored and supernumerary quotas), and five seats are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (also excluding the NRI/NRI sponsored and supernumerary quotas).

Important Notes:
  • The reservations are made by the Chhattisgarh Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2012, and the guidelines issued by the Government of Chhattisgarh, Higher Education Department, on May 24, 2019 .
  • The university reserves the right to modify the above allocations based on state or central government directives.
  • The reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC categories is subject to the prevailing seat policy of the Chhattisgarh government.
  • 5% of seats shall be reserved horizontally for Specially Abled Persons (SAP) at the All India level as per The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 .
  • 5% of seats shall be reserved horizontally for SAP, and 3% of seats shall be reserved for Dependents of Freedom Fighters (DFF) , applicable only to candidates from Chhattisgarh.
  • A candidate from Chhattisgarh domicile qualifying for admission under the regular merit in the All-India category will be considered only for All-India seats, not for Chhattisgarh domicile seats.
  • 30% of seats shall be reserved horizontally for female candidates across all categories.
  • Seat allotment for various CG Domicile category candidates will be conducted according to the guidelines issued by the Government of Chhattisgarh as needed.

Horizontal Reservation:

In addition to the previously mentioned vertical reservations, the following horizontal reservations will be implemented:
  • 30% of seats will be reserved for female candidates.
  • 5% of seats will be allocated for the Specially Abled Persons/Persons with Disability (PWD) category.
  • 25% of seats will be reserved for candidates with Gujarat Domicile, applicable across all categories (non-compartmentalized), excluding the EWS category.

Important Note:

The University also offers 4 Supernumerary Seats (2 for boys and 2 for girls) under the Sports Quota. Candidates wishing to apply under the Sports Quota can do so by submitting an application or expression of interest form directly to the University.

Supernumerary Quota Seats for Wards of Kashmiri Migrants and Residents from Jammu and Kashmir:
  • An additional nine seats (5% of total seats) in the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Course are designated for the wards of Kashmiri Migrants, along with two Supernumerary Quota Seats for residents from Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Candidates in these categories must appear for the CLAT, and admissions will be based on inter se merit within their respective categories.
  • For Kashmiri Migrants, the domicile certificate requirement has been waived per MHRD F. No. 3-4/2017-NCR dated 15.10.2019. However, residents from Jammu and Kashmir, including Kashmiri Pandits and Hindu families (non-migrants) residing in the Kashmir Valley, are required to present domicile certificates issued by the relevant authorities.

Can I change my NLU preference during the CLAT 2024 Seat Allotment process?
