List of Courses Offered through CLAT 2026: The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level examination for admission to various UG and PG law courses at leading National Law Universities (NLUs) and other participating institutions in India. Every year, thousands of aspirants appear for the exam to secure admission to law courses offered through CLAT. The exam is held annually and assesses candidates' aptitude and skills essential for legal studies. 

CLAT 2026 notification has not been released yet. It is likely to be announced in July 2025. CLAT scores are accepted by many law colleges in India for admission, except NLU Delhi.

CLAT 2026 Overview

CLAT 2026 is an offline law entrance examination for aspirants seeking admission to law courses at the UG and PG levels. The exam consists of 120 objective-type questions covering 5 sections, namely  English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.  Each correct answer awards one mark, while incorrect answers incur a penalty of 0.25 marks according to the CLAT marking scheme. The exam is designed to test candidates’ comprehension, reasoning, and analytical skills necessary for a career in law. The following table highlights the important aspects of CLAT 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Courses Offered Through CLAT 2026

The courses offered through CLAT 2026 have different eligibility criteria based on the level of the courses. While the UG courses like BA LLB, BSc LLB, require candidates to have completed their class 12th from a recognized university, for PG law courses, candidates must have an undergraduate law degree. Candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria laid by the Consortium of NLUs to appear for CLAT 2026. 

The eligibility criteria for courses through CLAT 2026 are mentioned below. 

1. BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission to these law courses through CLAT 2026. 

  • Aspirants must have completed their class 12th education or equivalent from a recognized state or central board of secondary education. 
  • General category candidates need at least 45% minimum aggregate marks in their class 12th. 40% marks are required by reserved category candidates. 
  • Candidates should have scored passing marks in all the subjects in their class 12th. 

2. BSc LLB

Here are the eligibility criteria for pursuing the BSc LLB course through CLAT 2026. 

  • Candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent from a recognized board of education, either from the central or state. 
  • Candidates must have done their class 12th in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology as the main subjects.

3. BTech LLB

  • Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics should be the main subjects in class 12th. 
  • Candidates must have completed their class 12th or equivalent with 45% minimum aggregate marks from a recognized central or state board of education. Reserved category candidates need 40% minimum aggregate marks. 

4. LLM

For pursuing an LLM course through CLAT 2026, candidates need to meet the following eligibility criteria. 

  • Candidates must have completed their undergraduate degree in law from a recognized university. 
  • General category candidates should have scored at least 55% (50% for reserved category candidates) aggregate marks in their UG degree. 

CLAT Exam Pattern for UG & PG Courses

CLAT UG exam pattern outlines the types of questions asked, the marking scheme, and the sections included. The exam is conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper mode, and is available only in English. For UG aspirants, the test comprises 120 multiple-choice questions divided across five sections: English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques, all to be completed in two hours.
