SLAT Exam Pattern

SLAT Exam Pattern 2025: The Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts the SLAT exam for the admission of candidates to undergraduate law programs, BA LLB, and BBA LLB at 4 constituent colleges of SIU.  It is an online test of 1 hour consisting of 60 questions. The SLAT 2024 exam was conducted in two slots, SLAT Test 1 and SLAT Test 2. SLAT 1 test was scheduled on 5th May 2024 and SLAT Test 2 was held on 11th May 2024 between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for both days.

SLAT syllabus includes five subjects namely, Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge . Each section has 12 questions. The SLAT exam has three prominent components namely, SLAT, SLAT WAT, and SLAT PI. After clearing the written test, candidates have to write essays on particular topics, and then proceed to the interview rounds. All three components are evaluated together for the final admission process. The SLAT 2025 exam for Phase 1 & 2 is scheduled for 13th and 15th of December 2024 . The SLAT admit card will be available from 3rd December 2024 on the official website. Candidates can download the admit card using their login credentials.

SLAT Exam Pattern Highlights 2025

SLAT Exam Pattern 2025 - Sectional Weightage

The SLAT 2025 exam constitutes five major subjects namely, Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge. From each subject, a total of 12 questions are asked in the exam. The SLAT exam assesses candidates based on their analytical and logical capabilities. For the reading comprehension section, candidates must improve reading skills along with grammar and vocabulary.

SLAT Marking Scheme 2025

The determining factors for the preparation of the SLAT exam are as follows.
  • For each correct answer, 1 mark is awarded to the candidate.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers or no attempt in the SLAT exam.
  • For unattempted questions, candidates will not be given any marks.
  • The SLAT result is prepared out of 60 marks. The marks will be calculated based on the correct answers marked by the candidates.

SLAT 2025 Components

The SLAT 2025 components include SLAT, SLAT written test, and SLAT personal interview. Based on these major components the admission process is done in the Symbiosis Law School. These components are explained in detail.

1. SLAT

  • The first and foremost component of the SLAT exam is the SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test).
  • It is a computer-based test.
  • The total marks allotted for the test are 60, but these marks are scaled down to 50.
  • The marks obtained in the SLAT hold 50% weightage in the admission process.

2. SLAT WAT (Written Ability Test)

  • SLAT WAT stands for SLAT Written Ability Test.
  • It is held in online mode.
  • It is an essay writing test.
  • The SLAT WAT holds 20% weightage in the admission process.

3. SLAT PI

  • SLAT PI stands for SLAT Personal Interview.
  • It evaluates candidates based on their aptitude and temperament to pursue law.
  • It holds 30% weightage in the admission process.
  • During the interview, candidates are assessed on their personalities and communication skills while answering the questions.
