Delhi HC Dismisses CAT 2024 Result Challenge Over Answer Key Error: The Delhi High Court has dismissed the petition challenging the results of the CAT 2024 on January 7, 2025. The petitioner, Aditya Kumar Mallick, alleged an error in the answer key that affected his performance in the CAT 2024 exam . In the CAT result plea , Aditya Kumar Mallick emphasized that despite raising objections to the provisional answer key, which was released on December 3, 2024, the final answer key was published without any rectifications. Additionally, the CAT 2024 result was declared as per the provisional answer key on December 19, 2024.
Delhi HC Decision on CAT 2024 Answer Key Plea
Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju, who was leading the case, stated that there was no justification to interfere with the CAT results and subsequently dismissed the petition. Senior Advocate Arvind Nayyar, who was representing IIM Calcutta, argued that the objections raised by the petitioner had been duly considered by an expert committee. However, the committee did not find any error in the answer key. The Delhi High Court also emphasized that judges should avoid interfering in the evaluation of question papers and answer sheets, as this falls under the responsibilities of experts. It stated that courts must assume answer keys are correct and should only step in if there are clear and obvious mistakes. The court also clarified that relying on assumptions or indirect reasoning is not enough to prove an answer key wrong.
