General Category Seats in IIMs for MBA: There are a total of 21 IIMs across India, with around 5500 seats for MBA programs. Out of these, approximately 60% of the seats are reserved for candidates from various reserved categories, leaving about 2200 IIM seats available for the General category.
Every year, over 2 lakh candidates compete to secure a seat in IIMs. The prerequisite to seek admission in IIMs is qualifying for CAT by scoring above the cut-off marks set by these institutes.
