GMAT Exam Focus Edition Sections

The revised GMAT Focus Edition introduces a streamlined structure designed to evaluate skills essential for success in graduate management programs. This revised GMAT exam comprises three distinct sections:
  • Verbal Reasoning: The Verbal Reasoning segment evaluates candidates' reading comprehension and critical reasoning skills. Candidates have to complete 23 questions within 45 minutes.
  • Quantitative Reasoning: This section of GMAT Focus features 21 questions aimed at assessing the problem-solving abilities of candidates. Participants are allotted 45 minutes duration to solve all the questions in this section.
  • Data Insights: This is a newly added section in the GMAT Focus exam. Questions in this section cover areas such as graphics interpretation, data sufficiency, table analysis, multi-source reasoning, and two-part analysis. Candidates have to answer 20 DI questions within 45 minutes.

Previous GMAT scoring systems included scores ranging from 200 to 800, with intervals of 10 points. However, the scoring range and score calculation in GMAT Focus Edition have changed significantly. The following points explain the modifications in the scoring system for the GMAT Focus Edition:

While taking the GMAT Focus Edition, candidates are allowed to bookmark and review their questions. After answering all the questions in a section, they will be directed to a Question Review & Edit Screen specific to that section. After accessing the review option on the screen, candidates can navigate to the questions they've bookmarked by selecting the corresponding question number. Here, candidates must note that the review and edit option will only be provided to candidates if there is time remaining to complete a section. This implies that to access the Question Review & Edit Screen, students must complete the section in under 45 minutes. If candidates fail to complete a section within the provided time frame, they will be directed either to the optional break screen or to the next section.
