GMAT Score Predictor 2024

GMAT Score Predictor: The GMAT scoring system follows complex mechanisms and algorithms. This algorithm considers factors like the difficulty level of questions, candidates’ responses, etc., to compute the overall score after the completion of the exam. However, after receiving the final GMAT score, candidates find it challenging to understand how raw scores translate into scaled scores.

Additionally, due to the computer-adaptive nature of the GMAT exam , participants with identical raw scores can achieve different results. The variation in score happens because each test's scoring algorithm operates uniquely.

According to the GMAT Focus Edition marking system, Each section of the GMAT is graded on a scale ranging from 66 to 90, with one score interval. The composite score is computed on a scale ranging from 205 to 805. The GMAT score predictor considers three key factors: total attempts, number of correct responses, and the difficulty level of questions to compute the final score.

What is the GMAT Score Predictor 2024?

The GMAT score calculator is a tool to determine a candidate's score on a scale ranging from 205 to 805. The GMAT composite score is derived from both quantitative and verbal sectional scores. Since the GMAT exam score depends on the difficulty level of the questions, the score predictor is optimised to take into account the question type and its challenge level for computing the score. During the GMAT exam easy questions carry less weightage, while difficult ones have high weightage. Due to this reason, candidates who give accurate answers to multiple easy questions score less than those who accurately answer a limited number of complex questions.

GMAT Focus Edition Scoring System

Previously, the GMAT composite score was computed on a scale ranging between 200 and 800. However, with the introduction of the GMAT Focus Edition, GMAC has modified the scoring system for the GMAT exam. The following points explain the scoring method used for computing candidates’ marks in the GMAT Focus Edition:
  • Scores for the GMAT Focus Edition range between 205 and 805 scale.
  • The score interval in GMAT Focus Edition Score Interval is 1, with total increments of 10 points.
  • Each section in GMAT Focus Edition has a score range of 60-90.
  • Negative marking is applied if a student fails to complete any section of the GMAT Focus Edition. Therefore, it is crucial for students to attempt all questions and complete the entire exam.
Upon completion of the GMAT Focus Edition exam, participants immediately receive the unofficial scores for Quantitative Reasoning, Data Insights, Verbal Reasoning, and the overall score. The table below presents the revised scoring details of GMAT:
Section Score Range Score Interval
Data Insights 60 – 90 1
Verbal Reasoning 60 – 90 1
Quantitative Reasoning 60 – 90 1
Total 205 – 805 10

Accuracy of GMAT Score Predictor

Candidates’ GMAT scores may vary depending on the specific GMAT exam or practice papers you take. As the GMAT is a computer-adaptive test, candidates with similar raw scores get different final scores. This variation occurs because of the differences in the difficulty level of questions. The GMAC maintains the secrecy of the GMAT scoring algorithm. Candidates and experts face challenges in understanding this algorithm, even after getting the official scorecard of the GMAT exam. Therefore, it is difficult to ascertain the accuracy of the GMAT score predictor. However, it serves as an effective tool to determine the expected score candidates may secure in the actual exam.

GMAT Scores Vs Percentiles

The GMAT scorecard includes details of both the total score and a percentile ranking. The percentile ranking represents the percentage of test-takers who achieved scores lower than the candidate, while the total marks show the candidate's overall points in the exam. A higher percentile indicates a more competitive score. The following table presents a comparison between GMAT Score, GMAT Focus Edition score, and GMAT percentile:
