IIM Shortlist 2024: Check Important Dates, IIM Seat Allotments and Selection Process

IIM Shortlist 2024: IIM Shillong released its shortlist for Admission 2024 on January 17, with only a small number of engineers receiving calls. The admission criteria for IIM Shillong were changed this year. IIM Bangalore announced its shortlist on January 12, followed by IIM Indore on January 10 and IIM Calcutta on January 8.

IIM Shortlist 2024 Release Dates

IIM Ahmedabad released its shortlist on January 6, and IIM Visakhapatnam started accepting online applications on the same day. Earlier, IIM Lucknow shortlisted around 8,800 candidates for the PI-WAT round, while IIM Kozhikode published its Stage 1 list for PI registration. IIM Kashipur is expected to release the CAP 2024 shortlist for 10 participating IIMs in the last week of January 2024. Here are the release dates for the IIMs Shortlists 2024 for the PI round:

Candidate Eligibility for IIM MBA Admissions
The eligibility criteria for admission to IIM MBA programs are similar to the CAT eligibility standards. Those meeting the CAT eligibility criteria are also eligible for IIM admission. However, candidates must fulfil additional requisites for selection to IIMs. Here are the notable eligibility criteria for MBA admission at IIMs:
  • The fundamental IIM eligibility requirement is a graduation degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates).
  • Students in the final year of a bachelor's degree or those awaiting their bachelor's degree results are also eligible.
  • Candidates must meet the IIM shortlist or qualifying cut-off percentile released by their preferred institute.

IIM Shortlist Criteria 2024

IIM Bangalore released its PGP 2024 interview call on January 12, and candidates can check their call by entering their CAT registration number and email ID. IIM Indore announced its shortlist for the PGP and PGP-HRM 2024-26 batch on January 10, which can be checked using the CAT registration number and email ID or date of birth.
  • IIM Calcutta released its shortlist on January 8, and candidates can check their status by logging in with their CAT registration number and email ID.
  • IIM Visakhapatnam started the process for submitting online applications on January 6, where shortlisted students need to provide their details.
  • IIM Lucknow was the first to release a shortlist of 8,847 candidates for PI-WAT on January 4, asking shortlisted candidates to fill out a personal data form.
  • IIM Kozhikode opened Stage 1 registration for its shortlist on January 4, with the form submission open until January 9, 2024.
  • The Stage 2 shortlist for PI-WAT will be released on January 25, 2024, and only registered candidates will be considered. This overview also highlights other key details like shortlist criteria, total seats, CAT cut-offs, and waitlist information for IIM admissions in 2024.

IIM Shortlist and Selection Process

The IIM admission process consists of three distinct stages. The following points explain the stages in the IIM selection process:

IIM Shortlist Based on CAT 2023 Scores

Once the CAT results are declared, candidates need to apply for the WAT/GD-PI round at their preferred IIMs through the official IIM websites. To get selected at the specific IIM, candidates must ensure they meet the CAT cut-off required for admission. Those meeting the shortlist cutoff need to log in using their CAT IDs to register their name for subsequent rounds.

Evaluation of Candidates for WAT/GD-PI

In the second phase, candidates who applied for WAT/GD-PI are shortlisted based on their CAT score and academic performance. Further, the selected candidates receive call letters to participate in the WAT-GD-PI round. These rounds are conducted in specific cities between February and April.

CAT Composite Score and Final Selection
