Why is GK Important in MAT?

Success on a management aptitude test is crucial for job advancement in the cutthroat corporate environment of today. While many people just pay attention to grasping business principles, General Knowledge (GK) is a crucial component that needs to be considered. A wide range of knowledge about our surroundings, including current events, history, science, the arts, and more, is called general knowledge. There are 40 questions in the MAT exam GK section , and each correct solution earns 1 mark, while wrong answers lose 0.25. Even though the GK section marks are not included in the overall percentile, many MAT exam schools take the candidate's GK score into account in the second round. A few B-Schools additionally list the GK sectional cutoff. As a result, it is critical to prepare for this portion adequately. Additionally, this segment has the following advantages:
  1. More Accuracy: GK-based questions provide more accuracy because of their inherently accurate nature. This is because there is no room for uncertainty if you are sure about the answer to a GK question! This is only applicable, though, if you avoid making assumptions out of thin air.
  2. Better Time Management: The GK segment is very time efficient because no math or analysis is required. You can benefit from tests like the MAT, which do not have sectional time limits. As a result, you can devote adequate time to MAT's more extended portions.
  3. Strategic Planning : Effective managers are adept strategists who can negotiate challenging corporate contexts. Thanks to your general knowledge, your awareness of market dynamics, competitiveness, and industry trends will be more significant. With this information, you are better equipped to create winning plans, spot opportunities, reduce risks, and promote business expansion.
  4. Analytical Thinking: Analytical thinking problems are frequently seen in the GK part of the MAT test. Candidates must use the provided information to analyze facts, examine patterns, and reach logical conclusions. This improves the candidate's capacity for critical thought, the building of links between disparate bits of knowledge, and efficient problem-solving.
  5. Business Environment: While the general knowledge (GK) segment of the exam mostly focuses on GK, it also contains questions about the business environment. This might include significant business happenings, mergers and acquisitions, economic policy, international commerce, and advances in certain industries. By knowing the business environment, managers may better grasp market dynamics and make wise judgments in the corporate sector.
  6. Leadership and team management : To lead your team successfully, you must motivate and inspire them. Thanks to your general knowledge, you can connect with your team members on several levels. It enables you to comprehend their viewpoints, value their thoughts, and offer advice in a way that appeals to them. This comprehension promotes a productive workplace and raises team spirit.
