Revised XAT 2025 Exam Pattern

XLRI has made significant changes to the XAT 2025 exam pattern compared to the previous year's format. One notable change is the removal of the Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) section from the exam. Instead, this section will now be part of the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD-PI) stages. Here are the key modifications to the XAT 2025 exam:
  • The number of questions has decreased from 105 to 95.
  • The total duration has been shortened from 210 minutes to 180 minutes.
  • The General Knowledge (GK) section's time allocation has been cut to 10 minutes, and the number of questions has been reduced from 25 to 20.
  • The Essay Writing Test, previously part of the computer-based exam, will now be held during the GD-PI round.
  • The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with five options per question.

XAT 2025 Marking System

The XAT 2025 marking system will follow a format similar to that of the previous year, XAT 2024. Below is an outline of the key highlights of the XAT 2025 marking scheme:
  • Each correct answer earns 1 mark.
  • A wrong answer leads to a deduction of 0.25 marks.
  • For more than 8 unattempted questions in a row, 0.10 marks will be deducted for each unanswered question.
  • The GK section does not include negative markings for wrong answers.
  • The General Knowledge section is not considered in the initial shortlisting. However, its score will be crucial in the final selection process.

The Decision-Making section in XAT 2025 followed a similar pattern to the previous year. However, the questions were more lengthy.
