FMGE full form in medicine is Foreign Medical Graduate Examination . NBEMS conducts biannual screening tests named FMGE in June and December. It is a screening test cum licensing examination that is organized by the National Board Of Examinations In Medical Sciences (NBEMS). FMGE exam started in the year 2002 for those medical graduates who obtained their primary medical education from outside India but desired to practice in India.

As per regulation, the FMGE examination is held for Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Indian citizens seeking a license to practice in India or appear in NEET PG or INI CET medical entrance exams. Such candidates must qualify for FMGE to register with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the State Medical Council (SMC).

FMGE is a popular name for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination which is its FMGE full form. FMGE is a licensing examination for foreign medical graduates. NBEMS conducts the FMGE exam twice a year, in June and in December. FMGE Screening Test has been introduced through the Screening Test Regulations 2002. The regulation states “Indian Citizens and Overseas Citizens of India with primary medical qualifications awarded by a medical institution outside India desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15 March 2002 shall have to qualify for a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act."

FMGE is an important exam in the medical field. Candidates are required to clear this screening test to be able to pursue higher education in India or practice as a registered medical professional if the primary medical qualification is obtained from a foreign institution. To appear in FMGE candidate must have a primary medical qualification equivalent to MBBS confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned. FMGE is an abbreviation of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. It is a screening test and not an entrance examination. This is why candidates who want to pursue higher education must appear for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (Postgraduate) also known as NEET PG or Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI CET).

FMGE Full Form in Hindi या फॉरेन मेडिकल ग्रेजुएट एग्जामिनेशन चिकित्सा शिक्षा क्षेत्र में एक महत्वपूर्ण परीक्षा है । नेशनल बोर्ड ऑफ एग्जामिनेशन द्वारा एफएमजीई (FMGE) स्क्रीनिंग टेस्ट का आयोजन किया जाता है । वे सभी भारतीय नागरिक या ओवरसीज सिटीजन ऑफ इंडिया (OCI) जिन्होंने अपनी चिकित्सा शिक्षा विदेश से प्राप्त की हैं उन्हें मेडिकल काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया (MCI) या राज्य मेडिकल काउंसिल के अस्थायी या स्थायी पंजीकृत के लिए पात्र होने के लिए FMGE परीक्षा में सफल होना अनिवार्य होता है। फिलहाल आगामी दिसंबर परीक्षा की तिथि घोषित कर दी गयी है और FMGE admit card या प्रवेश पत्र 12 जनवरी को जारी कर दिए जायेंगे।

FMGE Full Form in India

FMGE is one of the most important medical screening tests being biannually held in India. Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India who have acquired medical qualifications from foreign medical institutions or have obtained admission to these before 15th March 2002 must take the FMGE exam to be able to practice in India. In higher medical entrance examinations like NEET PG and INI CET which are conducted for admission to MD, MS, DM, and MCh courses the FMGE Pass Certificate is a prerequisite for foreign medical graduates. As per the FMGE exam pattern the FMGE question paper comprised 300 multiple-choice questions with each having 4 response options in the English language. Candidates are required to select the correct answer out of these 4 response options and gain one mark for each correct response. FMGE question paper is delivered in two parts to be taken in a single day with each part comprising 150 questions. The allotted time limit is 150 minutes for each part of the FMGE exam day.

FMGE Exam Date

NBEMS has the authority to announce the FMGE Exam Date . As per the latest FMGE Notification, the exam date for the December session was announced. FMGE December 2023 will be conducted on 20 January 2024 in online mode at 45 designated exam centres. As of now edit window is available for candidates who have completed the FMGE application form. Candidates who were unable to register for the FMGE December exam due to the FMGE eligibility criteria cut-off date requirement (October 31st, 2023) or any other reason need to wait for the next exam cycle i.e. FMGE 2024 .
