The number of students who register for NEET tells us how popular and important this exam is for students in India and abroad. In 2024, a record number of 24.06 lakh students had registered for the NEET UG exam. This was the highest in NEET history. But in 2025, the number of registered students slightly dropped to 22.76 lakh.
This drop in registration could be due to many reasons such as stricter eligibility, career shifts, or students taking a break. Still, over 22 lakh students shows how big the NEET remains for medical aspirants. Comparing the two years, we see that NEET is still one of the most competitive exams in India.
