According to an analysis by Physics Wallah, more than 25 lakh students have applied for the upcoming NEET UG 2024 examination scheduled for 5th May. This figure is nearly 4.20 lakh more than last year's registrations. In terms of gender distribution among applicants in the medical sciences, over 55% of applications were submitted by female candidates, amounting to more than 1.3 lakh applications. The NEET-UG examination offers approximately 2 lakh seats, including around 1,09,000 MBBS seats, 26,000 dental seats, and seats in various other medical fields such as Ayurveda, Veterinary Science, Homeopathy, and Nursing. Even on the last day of registration, a significant number of students are still registering, and there are requests to extend the deadline due to various issues, including problems with linking Aadhar cards and mobile numbers. Some students are facing difficulties in applying due to discrepancies in linking their old mobile numbers with Aadhar cards. Although the second option is to use the PAN card, many students do not have one, leading to further calls for an extension. NTA also extended NEET Registration 2024 to solve this concern of students.

In Delhi, 65,809 candidates applied for the exam. These figures demonstrate the widespread interest and participation in the NEET exam across India, with Uttar Pradesh leading the way in terms of student registrations for 2024.
