Why NEET 2025 Exam Pen and Paper Mode?

Over the past year, there have been several debates about switching NEET UG to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. However, the Centre has decided against this transition for the 2025 exam. A senior official from the NTA clarified that the decision aligns with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC), which governs medical education in India.

One of the primary reasons for sticking with the pen-and-paper mode is the familiarity and accessibility it provides to candidates. Conducting a computer-based NEET exam would require extensive digital infrastructure, which may not be uniformly available across the country. Additionally, the pen-and-paper format ensures that students from rural and remote areas can participate without any technological hindrances.
