Introduction IGKO 2025

Every year Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) organizes the International General Knowledge Olympiad also known as SOF IGKO. It is an annual olympiad competition conducted for students of Classes 1 to 10 to evaluate candidates' understanding and knowledge of social and political developments, current affairs, geography, static gk and other ongoing events.

IGKO 2025 will be conducted on three dates and schools have the option to choose one date to organize the International General Knowledge Olympiad.

The SOF IGKO exam comprises various sections, and the number of questions and total scores for every question depending on the class.

International General Knowledge Olympiad 2025 Overview

The IGKO 2025 is going to provide a platform to nurture academic talents of students in the field of general knowledge, preparing them for the competitive world from an early age. 

As prescribed by NEP, it facilitates the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills and cognitive skills in students.

IGKO 2025 Eligibility

The International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) is available to students in classes 1 to 10 who are enrolled in a school that is approved by the SOF.

Students in specific classes are only permitted to participate in the Olympiad for that class. There are no other requirements for IGKO 2025 eligibility.

How to Apply for SOF IGKO 2025?

• The IGKO Registration Forms are included in the prospectus, which is sent to every institution that is registered with SOF. By Calling at 0124-4951200 or by emailing at info@sofworld.org, schools that are not registered may also ask for a prospectus.

• As per the instructions, the school's coordinating instructor should complete the School Registration Form (SRF) and Students' Registration Sheet (SRS), and then submit them to the SOF's office by the deadline.

• Registration Fee: The IGKO registration fee for each student/Olympiad for Indian, Bangladeshi, Bhutanese, and Nepalese schools is Rs 125/- (GST included), which goes toward the cost of the test. Schools may charge an additional Rs 25/- per student for the honorarium of in charge, remuneration to teachers to teach and guide, and for other costs.

There is no fee for an Indian student whose parents were murdered during defense operations, or for a student with a severe physical impairment.

IGKO Exam Pattern 2025

• The International General Knowledge Olympiad level 1 is of 60 minutes duration 

• 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for classes 1 to 4

• 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for classes 5 to class 10. 

• The medium of IGKO Olympiad is English Only. 

• There are 4 sections as per the IGKO Exam Pattern 2025- General Awareness, Current Affairs, Life Skills and Achievers Section.

IGKO Syllabus 2025

The International General Knowledge Olympiad (IGKO) Syllabus 2025 for classes 1 to 10 is designed to assess students' general awareness, current affairs, life skills, and higher-order thinking abilities.

The IGKO Syllabus varies slightly between lower classes (1 to 4) and higher classes (5 to 10), with the exam consisting of multiple-choice questions.

SOF International General Knowledge Exam Date 2025

The SOF International General Science Olympiad is organized on 3 different dates. Schools as per the convenience may select a date for conducting the SOF IGKO 2025.

There are separate IGKO question papers for each date of the IGKO exam. Change of date for conducting the SOF IGKO is not permitted. The vital details of the SOF IGKO Exam Date 2025 is tabulated below.

IGKO Awards and Recognition

Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) provides Awards and recognition to the SOF IGKO Winners to the International, Zonal and Class toppers.

In the below table you can find the details of the SOF IGKO Awards and Recognition details for the academic year 2025-26.

The IGKO prize/scholarship sum will be divided equally among  10 students who receive the same ranking. Furthermore, each winner will get a Certificate and a medal in the appropriate category.

If 11 or more students receive the same rank, each winner will get a medal (in the appropriate category), a certificate, and a scholarship of gifts worth Rs.1,000/- each, rather than a cash prize or scholarship.

The IGKO award/scholarship money will be distributed fairly among 5 students who earn the same rank. Additionally, each winner will receive a certificate and a medal.

In the IGKO 2025 if 6 or more students receive the same rank, each winner will get a medal and a Certificate, as well as a scholarship or cash prize of Rs. 1,000/- worth of goods.

For single level exams and for 2 level exams, Medal of Distinction & Certificate of Distinction are given for 1st level performance, while Zonal medals & Certificate of Zonal Excellence are given for 2nd level performance.
