To prepare for 71st BPSC Exam 2025, first understand the exam pattern and syllabus properly. Start your studies with NCERT books and then move to standard books for each subject. 1. Understand the BPSC Exam Pattern

Before starting preparation, you must know the BPSC exam pattern. The BPSC exam has three main stages:

a. Prelims (Objective Type)

  • One paper: General Studies

  • Total Marks: 150

  • Time: 2 hours

  • Only qualifying in nature (marks not added to final list)

b. Mains (Descriptive Type)

  • General Hindi – 100 marks (Qualifying only)

  • General Studies Paper 1 – 300 marks

  • General Studies Paper 2 – 300 marks

  • Optional Subject – 300 marks

c. Interview – 120 marks

You must clear prelims and mains to move the interview round for BPSC interview. 

2. Know the Syllabus

Once you understand the pattern, read the BPSC Syllabus carefully. Make a list of all topics for:

  • Prelims

  • Mains (GS1, GS2, Optional, Hindi)
