Maharashtra Government Created Tourism Security Force: The Maharashtra government created the 'Tourism Security Force (Paryatan Mitra)' to promote tourism and tourist safety. The trial launch will take place during the Mahabaleshwar festival, which runs from May 1st to May 4th in Maharashtra's Satara district.
The Tourism Department will appoint tourism police on a contract basis to provide tourists with a sense of security when they visit the state. The force will also provide knowledge about culture, history, tourist attractions, laws, regulations, and tourism, with the goal of fostering sustainable tourism.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Maharashtra government created this force to ensure tourist safety in the state. Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai said that he hopes to provide tourists with a safe and secure experience with this program.

The pilot launch will be implemented during the Mahabaleshwar Festival, with 25 staff selected by the Office of the Satara District Superintendent of Police. This force will be trained to ensure tourist safety and in accordance with festival plans. This force will operate from April 25 to August 31, 2025.
