UPPSC Exam Pattern 2026 for Prelims & Mains 

Understanding the UPPSC Exam Pattern 2026 helps you know the number of papers, marking scheme, exam duration, and selection stages before you begin your preparation. UPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers, each carrying 200 marks. While both papers are compulsory, General Studies Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying in nature and requires the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by the Commission. Negative marking is applicable in the Preliminary Examination.

Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination. The Mains is a descriptive (written) examination consisting of eight compulsory papers. The marks obtained in the Mains are considered for preparing the final merit list along with the Interview.
