Candidates preparing to move abroad for study, work, or migration can take the IELTS exam at any of the IDP-authorised centres across Punjab. Every centre offers both the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training test centre Punjab options, and most locations also run the IELTS computer-based test centre Punjab format, which delivers results within 2–5 days instead of the usual 13 days for paper-based tests.
Candidates can choose their preferred city and format - Academic or General Training, computer-delivered or paper-based - while scheduling the IELTS Exam. It's best to pick a centre close to home, since travelling long distances on exam day can add unnecessary stress. Check your IELTS Band Score requirements before you register so you book the right module.
There are six active IDP IELTS test centres in Punjab: Bathinda, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga, and Patiala. Make sure you reserve your preferred IELTS Exam Centre at least a month in advance, since seats - especially for computer-delivered slots - fill up fast in bigger cities like Ludhiana and Amritsar.

Addresses and contact numbers are sourced directly from IDP IELTS India and are current for 2026. It's a good idea to reconfirm the address on the IDP site before you travel, as centres occasionally shift floors or landmarks within the same building.
Test date availability differs by centre and by format. Computer-delivered (CD) IELTS runs almost every weekday at most Punjab centres, while paper-based IELTS follows a fixed monthly schedule (about 4 dates a month) that IDP releases roughly 2–3 months ahead.
Below are the next confirmed dates at each centre as of early September 2026 - since new dates are added on a rolling basis, always cross-check live seat availability on the IDP booking page before finalising your plan.

IELTS centres across Punjab offer both computer-delivered and paper-based test formats. Here’s what you need to know about the computer-based IELTS format:
Computer-delivered IELTS: Most Punjab centres, including Bathinda, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Patiala, offer the computer-based test.
Test Availability: Computer-based IELTS slots may be available up to 3 times a day, 7 days a week.
Test Format: Listening, Reading, and Writing are completed on a computer.
Speaking Test: The Speaking section is conducted face-to-face with a certified examiner, either on the same day or within a few days of the main test.
Faster Results: Computer-based IELTS results are typically available within 2–5 days.
Paper-Based IELTS: Candidates who prefer pen and paper can also take the traditional IELTS format at all six centres.
Paper-Based Test Dates: Paper-based IELTS generally has around 4 fixed test dates per month, or approximately 48 dates per year, mostly on Saturdays and some Thursdays.
IELTS General Training Test Centre Punjab: Academic vs GT
Every IDP centre in Punjab functions as an IELTS General Training test centre, alongside offering the Academic module - you simply select the module that matches your purpose when booking:
IELTS Academic - required for university admissions and professional registration abroad.
IELTS General Training - required for immigration (Canada PR, Australia, UK work visas) and for study below degree level.
Academic module dates are usually available on all fixed test dates, while General Training is offered on a slightly narrower set of dates within the same month, so check the specific date list for your chosen city before you commit to a plan.
Candidates can complete the IELTS Application Form online or in person through ieltsidp.com, the official IDP IELTS website. Here's the process:
Visit the official IDP IELTS website.
Click on the "Book IELTS" option.
Select your city (any of the six Punjab centres), the exam format (computer-delivered or paper-based), and the module (Academic or General Training).
Choose your preferred test date and time slot from the options shown.
Fill in your details and upload a clear, scanned copy of your passport.
Pay the test fee via net banking, debit card, or credit card.
You'll receive a confirmation on your registered email and phone number once the slot is booked. For the Speaking test, you can choose your slot separately if it isn't scheduled automatically.
Choosing the right IELTS exam centre and test format can make the registration and test-day experience easier. Candidates should check the latest IDP availability, dates, and centre details before booking. For preparation, PW IELTS can support learners with structured IELTS courses and practice to help them build confidence and work towards their target band score.
