UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission. It is a government agency that recruits officers in the civil services of the country. UPSC conducts Civil Services Examination CSE and selects the eligible officers. UPSC CSE Age Criteria
The candidates are required to calculate their age as of August 1, 2023. The upper age limit for the exam is 32 years. This means the candidate should not be the age of 32 years as of 1st August 2023.
Note: For UPSC 2022, the minimum age will be 21 as of 1st August 2022, and the maximum age will be 32, falling between 2nd August 1991 and 1st August 2002.

UPSC CSE Qualification criteria
The UPSC CSE exam does not need a big certificate of educational qualification from the applicants. The candidates should have any graduation level degree from any government-recognized university or UGC-approved university. The graduation could be done in any branch. Those who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for UPSC. However, their graduation result should be declared before the final exam of UPSC.

Q1. What is the maximum number of attempts for general category students for UPSC?
Ans. The UPSC commission set the general category IAS exam limit. The number of attempts is 6 times till the age of 32.
Q2. Is there any age relaxation for females in UPSC?
Ans. No, there is no special relaxation for females in UPSC. The age criteria are the same for any gender. The reservation is not based on gender in UPSC.
Q3. What is the age limit for the IAS Exam?
Ans. The minimum age for the IAS exam is 21 years and the maximum age is 32 years.
Q4. Is there any reservation for ex-servicemen in the UPSC exam?
Ans. Yes there is age relaxation for the Ex-Serviceman in the UPSC exam of 5 years, who had served a minimum of five years of Military Service. It also includes Commissioned Offers and SSCO/ECOs.
Q5. Can the 12th pass apply for UPSC?
Ans. Only the 12th pass can not apply for the UPSC. The candidate must have a graduation degree to appear in the exam.
Q6. Is physical fitness required for IAS?
Ans. In rule 21 of the department of personnel and training (DOPTs) describes that “A candidate must be in good mental and bodily health.”
