National Films Award 2024 - At the National Media Centre in New Delhi on 16th August, the 70th National Film Awards 2024 winners were revealed. The President will present awards to the top Indian films, in all languages, for 2022 in a ceremony that will take place at a later time.
Contention was open to both feature and non-feature films that have received Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certification between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022. Rahul Rawail, the chair of the feature film jury, Nila Madhab Panda, the chair of the non-feature film jury, and Gangadhar Mudalair, the chair of the best writing on cinema panel, compose the National Films Award 2024 jury. Aattam, a Malayalam-language drama, received the Best Feature Film award, Rishab Shetty won Best Actor, and Nithya Menen and Manasi Parekh shared Best Actress in National Films Award 2024.70th National Film Awards 2024
In 1954, the State Awards, the precursor to the National Film Awards, were first presented. Only the Best films in a variety of regional languages were recognised back then. Actors and technicians did not begin to get prizes until 1967. In the same year that Uttam Kumar won the Best Actor award for Antony Firingee and Chiriyakhana, Nargis created history as the first-ever Best Actress winner for her performance in Raat Aur Din. The winners of the 70th National Film Awards 2024, which honoured the exceptional talent and work put into Indian cinema, were announced on August 16. The prizes were declared by Gangadhar Mudalair of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury, Rahul Rawail of the Feature Film Jury, and Nila Madhab Panda of the Non-Feature Film Jury.70th National Film Awards 2024 Winners List
The COVID-19 epidemic has caused a two-year delay in the award ceremonies. The best Indian films certified in 2021 were recognised at the 69th National Film Awards, which took place in 2023. Rocketry won Best Feature Film, Allu Arjun won Best Actor, while Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon tied for Best Actress. The Directorate of Film Festivals is the coordinator of the National Film Awards, which were first presented in 1954. The Marathi film Shyamchi Aai won the Best Feature Film award for the first time ever. With eight wins in 2002, Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan is still the most awarded movie in the history of the awards. Along with the national awards, the event recognises industry icons with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime accomplishment and showcases the best films in other regional languages. The deadline for online submissions was January 30, 2024, as announced by the National Film Development Corporation of India. Film award categories were open to feature and non-feature films that have received Central Board of Film Certification certification between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022. The best writing on cinema category was open to books, critical analyses, reviews, and articles on films that were published in Indian newspapers, periodicals, and journals between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.
