The event at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute is a big step to help farmers grow more crops, earn more money, and make India more self-reliant.
The event also happened on the birth anniversary of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan. PM Modi opened projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore for farming, animal care, fishing, and food processing. He also laid the foundation for new projects worth about Rs 815 crore.
PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) is a government scheme made to help farmers grow more crops, earn more money, and make farming easier and sustainable. It especially focuses on small and marginal farmers. The scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2025-26 and started in October 2025. It brings together 36 existing agriculture programs from 11 ministries to make it easier for farmers to get benefits directly.
The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with a budget of Rs 11,440 crore, aims to increase pulses production from 252.38 lakh tonnes to 350 lakh tonnes by the 2030-31 crop year. This will also help India reduce the need to import pulses from other countries.
