
UPSC Chairman 2024: Mrs. Preeti Sudan will take charge as the new chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Once she formally assumes charge on August 1st, 2024, ex-IAS Preeti will become the second woman to be appointed as the UPSC chairperson after Rose Millian Bathew Kharbuli (1996).

Preeti Sudan is the 1983 batch IAS officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre. She has been appointed as the new chairperson of the UPSC, effective August 1, 2024. Mrs. Preeti Sudan will serve in this role until April 29, 2025, or until she reaches the age of 65, or until further orders from the government.
Her appointment comes after the resignation of Manoj Soni, who stepped down from the position before his term was scheduled to end, citing personal reasons. She previously served as a UPSC member after retiring in 2020 as Union Health Secretary.
